Working with LaTeX & KPDF

KPDF is particularly handy in “watch file” mode. To activate, go to:

Settings -> Configure KPDF…

and check “Watch file” in the General section.

This causes KPDF to watch the file for changes and reload it automatically. Really handy when you don’t want to keep navigating to the old page after an edit and reload ..

    Thanks for this entry. I use Kile as editor for latex. I configured it to open the PDFs in kpdf. But everytime I generate the document, a new instance of kpdf is created. Thus, the reload feature does not work for me. Do you have any solution?

    Hi Tommy,

    You need to check you Quickbuild settings. I have a feeling you have “ViewPDF” in the chain of commands which will cause it to open a new instance of kpdf every time. Just remove that and the one instance you open will watch the file for changes.

    Hope that helps.
